If you are reading this website, chances are you will also be interested in green energy. This is energy that can lower your electricity bill and help you become more independent of the national power grid. Green energy is a thing! Let’s take a look at how it can help you reach your goals of independence, save money, and cut another cord.

Going green does not have to be costly, nor take too much of your time. By simply incorporating a few changes at home, you can lower electricity costs and help the environment at the same time. This article will show you how to benefit from using green energy.

Using environmentally friendly energy is a great way to improve your home life and helps save the environment, too. Change some small things in the home to save on your energy costs. Continue reading to learn more about the energy saving options that might be available to you.

An old, yet good tip, for those looking to save on energy is to turn off your lights whenever you leave a room. You would be surprised how much energy you could end up saving over time if you get into the habit of turning off your lights. You will also see a decrease in your power bill. Of course, you should do this, but there’s a lot more to it! Let’s talk about

solar

appliances

heating

community resources

and more.

Solar

You may have heard of the benefits of updating your home with solar panels to conserve energy and save money. Some of the benefits of installing solar panels on your home include government incentives and contributing to an ecologically friendly environment. The following article will give you information on the benefits of solar panels and where you are able to purchase them.

Add solar panels to the roof for an immediately greener, and more energy efficient, home. Adding solar panels won’t require a big investment in the beginning, and the savings will be quite significant down the road. Solar energy is free once panels are installed, and you might even have the opportunity to sell off some of this power to local electric companies.

Have solar panels installed on your home for an easy, renewable way to power some or all of your home’s appliances. However, you must consider a few issues before getting started. One major factor to consider with solar panels is the amount of sunlight your home receives. If you home is shaded, the amount of energy collected from solar panels will be greatly reduced.

Solar isn’t just for the roof

Amazingly, you can find a lot of solar panels on Amazon! These are some of the most popular:

Renogy 400 Watt 12 Volt Monocrystalline Solar Bundle Kit

Use solar-powered lamps for outdoor lighting. Solar-powered lamps are usually inexpensive, and they don’t need any power source besides the sun. Not only does this save energy. You also don’t need to hang lights or wires outdoors.

Switch to solar heating systems for water to lower your cost of indoor water. Solar water heaters tap into the abundant and free energy offered by the sun. Water heated by other methods, like natural gas, propane, or electricity, is not an efficient method. While some upgrades cost more initially, they can qualify you for deductions on your tax return for using green energy.

Find out more about active and passive forms of solar power. Passive solar systems are less expensive but cannot store energy like active solar systems do. Active power needs solar panels installed, cells, and mechanical systems. Passive power uses the sun for thermal energy in the home.

A good benchmark to use when determining how much power a new solar system is likely to generate is the number of hours of sunlight in the winter. That way you won’t run out of energy during winter months, and you will have more than enough in the summer. Combining this method with a net utilities plan will mean getting back money from the electric company during the summer, too.

Green Energy is more than just Solar

Do you have a farm? If so, you can rent a portion of it so wind turbines can be installed. Your home and the surrounding residences will get some free power. Don’t worry, wind turbines don’t take up a lot of room.

Unplug your chargers when they aren’t being used to charge your devices. Chargers for laptops, mp3 players, cell phones and other devices use power when they’re plugged in. This happens regardless of whether you’re using the device or not.

Check your furnace and air conditioning filters monthly. Clean or replace them as needed. Also, you may want your warm-air registers to have filters. This will help ensure debris doesn’t enter heating ducts, thereby reducing your efficiency.

Cover your windows if you’re not going to be home. The result will be a cooler house because the window’s admit less heat. Windows that face south tend to get more sun due to their orientation. Cover all of these windows with curtains, blinds or roller shades.

Whenever possible, use cold water to wash your clothing. Almost 90 percent of energy consumed by washing machines is used when heating the water. Cold water will do the job just as well; all you need is an effective clothes washing detergent. Don’t forget to wait until you have a full load of laundry to wash; that is the energy efficient way.

Instead of using the dryer, dry your laundry outdoors when weather permits. Your laundry will smell fantastic after a day in the sun. They will smell a lot fresher than if you were to use a dryer. This will save you a ton on your utility bills, leaving you extra money to turn your air conditioning on instead.

Check monthly to determine if your furnace’s filters need cleaning and replace them yearly. It’s a good call to add filters to warm air registers. This will prevent a reduction in efficiency, which occurs when the heating ducts get clogged with debris.

Appliances are important too

Keep your refrigerator properly maintained. Your fridge consumes a ton of energy, so make sure it’s in good shape. Clean the dust off of the heating coils on a regular basis. In addition to that, make the seal near the door clean and tight.

Thawing frozen foods in your refrigerator is a good way to conserve energy. You will find that this is one of the safest options for thawing your meats, and you will also help to cool the other foods in your refrigerator by allowing your frozen products to release cold air as they thaw.

Put your freezer and refrigerator in a cool area of the house to save energy. Don’t put them in sunlight or over heating vents since this unnecessarily raises the temperature.

Turn you appliances off when you are not using them. When exiting rooms, turn off the computer, television or lights. Connect your home electronics to a power strip and unplug it when they are not in use. Phantom power draws from electronics in standby mode is a big problem.

When not using things, turn them off. When you leave a room, switch off the lights, computer or T.V. Try using a power strip so you can turn off all of your electronics at once, instead of letting power be wasted in standby mode.

including your water heater..

Use a model which is tankless and more green instead of a tank style heater. Tankless water heaters still use electricity or gas, but they do not run constantly heating a large tank all the time. They heat only the water you need. Tankless heaters come in various models that either supply a single faucet or the whole house with hot water.

One easy way to go green is to use an on-demand water heater. Instead of constantly heating water, these newer heaters heat it only as necessary so that you don’t waste energy. The on-demand water heater will heat water instantly and save you money on energy.

When doing laundry, there many things you can do to conserve energy. Provided your dryer has it, the moisture sensor setting will shut down your dryer as soon as your clothes have been dried completely. If your dryer has a higher spin speed, utilize this feature to cut drying time. Always clean your dryer filters, and check your dryer vent for any blockages.

Replace old, energy-hogging appliances with new versions that are Energy Star rated. Energy Star ratings mean that your new appliances are technologically built to use less energy than previous models. This rating guarantees 20% less energy for freezers and refrigerators, 40% difference for dishwashers, and 50% for washing machines!

The easiest way to find these appliances is to look on them for an Energy Star badge. The ENERGY STAR guidelines are set by the U.S. Department of Energy as well as the Environmental Protection Agency You can get a tax rebate from these type of items, as well.

If you spend the money on green appliances and electronics now, you’ll save over time. While greener technology is often more expensive initially, the long-term savings will more than offset this. It will also pay off in the long run for the environment.

Heating

If you want to save on your heat bill, you can start by heating the rooms separately. You can use floor heating solutions to accomplish this, and include one main board that gives you the ability to individually select the temperature in each area. This is an especially excellent idea for large homes.

A home heating alternative to be considered is biofuel. This type of fuel is made of oils, wood and vegetable or animal fats. Propane furnace mechanics can adjust your furnace so that you can use biofuels in it. This would change the conversation to around 20-99% biodiesel. Because this is a significant alteration, talk with a professional about the substitution before attempting to make any changes on your own.

Upgrading your home’s boiler is a smart way to save energy. Older boilers were not created with energy conservation in mind, but newer boiler varieties are more efficient. Newer boilers produce far less carbon dioxide and reduce energy bills.

Don’t turn your heat up too far in the home, unless you need to. If it is a little chilly, simply put on a sweatshirt, and pair of sweatpants. When heat is raised to a higher level you end up using a lot of energy you didn’t really need to use.

One way to make your home use less energy is to weatherize it. If you seal ducts, install energy saving windows and add insulation, you will be able to cut down on the energy your home uses. That’s not the only benefit; you’ll also have a lower power bill.

The flow of air in a home is better controlled when you have stormed windows and doors installed. Storm doors and windows lessen the amount of cold air drafts that come in. If you use storm doors or windows, you can save at least 45 percent on your electricity bills.

Community Resources

Every community offers different energy sources, so research the ones that are available to you. Compare costs and look up regulations on green energy and tax incentives. You may find that switching to one or another may provide a reduction in energy use and cost.

If you are apprehensive about what green changes to make to your home, there are many green energy consultants available today. They will let you know how costly your appliances are, and they can give a detailed estimate on how much the costs will be to replace or upgrade your existing systems.

Have the bulk of your correspondence sent to your email. This will help you use less paper and help the planet. You and the businesses you deal with can both save energy and money by going paperless. An added bonus is that everyone benefits by the protection of our environment.

Professionals can help to analyze your home and give you tips on making it more green. They can let you know how much money inefficient appliances are costing you, and they can also provide you with an idea of the amount of money you would have to spend to make upgrades to your systems.

An easy to get started in energy efficiency is to ask your electric company for help. Lots of utility companies have information on their websites about your energy consumption and tips you can implement to save cash. Check out programs that help you buy energy-efficient light bulbs or appliances.

Think about green energy regularly

Write a reminder to remain on top of goals for energy efficiency, and check each bill against last year to see if improvements were made. By being conscious of how you use energy, you can help significantly reduce the amount of energy you consume. It can be hard at first, but once you make conserving energy a routine it will become second nature to you, and will pay off greatly on your energy bills.

In order to cut down on fuel usage, you should consider using carpooling not only for work, but for other activities too. If you have children organize carpooling with other parents in your neighborhood. If you love in close proximity to family members or friends, try to synchronize your shopping trips with them, and you can each take turns driving.

You can also save money by installing a thermostat that is programmable. Then you can program your thermostats to use less energy when you are sleeping or are usually not home. You could also make them regulate temperatures during day and night hours.

Use a laptop computer instead of desktop, which uses much more energy. Laptops use only about one quarter of the power consumption of a full desktop, and is ideal for those that use their computer for surfing the Internet or word processing. You can also bring your computer anywhere if you have a laptop.

Conclusion

Though you may not have the option of whole-home supply through renewable energy, you can consider incorporating something like solar power to offset some utility cost. For instance, you can install just enough solar panels to heat your hot water.

Do your part to make green energy technology more affordable by demanding it, since prices come down as the user base grows. It is your right to demand that your elected officials find new green technologies and help you use them. The more that you demand them and buy them, more products will be manufactured utilizing these technologies reducing the price of such items. If we as consumers band together and buy green products, it will encourage companies to develop more green technologies.

Although some don’t believe in climate change, you can still benefit from green energy in your home. It saves plenty of money on the electric bill, by making just a few small changes to your daily life, such as shutting off the lights when not in the room.

The preceding article should have made it clear that low cost and reduced energy consumption aren’t the only reasons people install solar panels. These systems are not only easily obtainable, they can be expected to last. Putting in solar panels is one wonderful way to be “green” and keep your home updated simultaneously.

As you should now see, updating your home with green technology isn’t necessarily going to break the bank. Making a few easy changes can lower your electricity usage and save you money. Just like cutting the cord to the cable company, you can get more energy on your own. Remember the tips in this article and pass them on, so you can see an improvement in the environment.

AT&T and DirectTV are creating a new streaming video player. Reports say it may be called the Osprey.

DirecTV is creating an Android TV-powered box which will rely on OTT supply and encourage voice search/navigation as well as the 4K video format. This information is based on FCC files which were first seen by Variety.

The apparatus, known as version number C71KW-400. It appears that the AT&T/DIRECTV Wireless 4K OTT Client from the user manual registered with the FCC, ties at a 10/100 Ethernet jack, electronic sound, HDMI and USB 2.0 interfaces, along with 802.11ac WiFi. The connected distant features a touch pad and voice recognition capabilities, when it’s paired with the Android TV apparatus.

The consumer’s guide also notes the voice-controlled remote will operate with a”prospective” version that’s known as the HS27. Users will have the ability to sign in using their Google accounts, and screen shots reveal the apparatus supporting a range of programs from your Google Play shop.

Especially, the newest OTT customer device can not be utilized with existing DirecTV Genie servers (including the HR34-54 and HS17). AT&T has not responded to queries concerning the brand new Android TV apparatus, so the way the corporation will really use it’s open to speculation.

As this is an OTT apparatus, my guess is it will be a device DirecTV will sell or rent to clients of DirecTV currently, and encourage a new software platform. Also mentioned on AT&T’s Q3 call was that will go next year. It will deliver innovative features like a cloud DVR, PPV events and films, and permit users to tack more flows to their account.

Can we use this box without a subscription?

Whether this becomes a device for DirecTV subscribers, it seems that the corporation would optimize it to AT&T’s very own OTT TV service if it is turned on, and give users the choice to swap it with programs like Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube, etc. Variety’s Janko Roettgers also wonders if DirecTV will produce the box accessible to new or present clients of AT&T’s U-verse IPTV support or DirecTV’s conventional satellite TV service, possibly in an attempt to rapidly migrate movie subs to its own new, more nimble digital platform.

To Roettgers’ point concerning the way a brand new Android TV device may factor in the organization’s grander pay TV programs. Randall Stephenson, AT&T’s CEO, spoke up the organization’s software-centric strategy in the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference in September.”it is a software-based alternative for cable TV for want of a better descriptive conditions,” he said then. “This will be the stage for how we provide all video later on, software-centric. We will be ambivalent concerning whose broadband that the tv service gets delivered and therefore a software-based platform won’t demand a satellite dish to the roof and quite a thin client in the house instead of a large set-top box”.

Android is getting bigger

Irrespective of the implementation, it will imply that AT&T/DirecTV has joined an increasing number of suppliers and vendors to leap in the Android TV pond. Some recent cases:-Evolution Digital, a provider focused on cable grade 2/3 operator marketplace, is operating within an Android TV-powered box because of the brand new app-based OTT TV which can carry the MSO spouse’s brand and be owned by the operator.

It is going to also be forced to auto-connect/default into the operator’s program once the unit is switched on. Telus of Canada is promoting a 4K-capable Android TV-based “press box” to get C$100 that functions with its brand new Pik TV skinny-bundle streaming TV support.

And when you wondered whether a few in the cable sector are sensitive to the momentum which Android TV is beginning to build from the cable pay TV industry, then an individual would need only look to a number of the curious behaviour that happened at a week’s SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo at Denver.

Execs from Amino Communications, both Google and Verimatrix were initially slated to appear on a board about Android TV in the show’s Innovation Theater, but were instead required to move the conversation elsewhere. SCTE/ISBE isn’t reacting to requests for comment about what transpired that, however, nScreenMedia’s Colin Dixon, who moderated the panel, reported that reveal organizers”determined it was’unsuitable’ to add such a comprehensive discussion of Android TV.

The host of this board, hurriedly relocated the conversation to its own booth on the show floor. “I had been poking around the show floor when that was going down, and may state that many individuals were mystified about the conclusion, to say the least. Although the concept of the board was delivered in the series, altering the place to the Amino booth in the Innovation Theater place did not look a mandatory one to me personally. In reality, it came off seeming like a poor move all about by a business that insists it is prepared to embrace change and openness.Additionally, the conclusion ended up with the reverse effect of what was intended, providing the panel much more focus (along with the undesirable kind, at that!) than it probably would have received if the occasion happened during its first site.

What is OLED technology anyway? Is it worth the extra money that you’re paying? When it comes to smart tv, the reality is that you will need something relatively new and fancy. I’ll tell you why.

Streaming TV over the internet isn’t the easiest for a TV. Even the first several generations of smart tv didn’t have the power to stream TV reliably. Maybe they could handle Netflix, but even then they would take days to boot up.

If you’re serious about cutting the cord, then a smart TV with some decent speed and power is very, very helpful. I got one smart TV that was a refurbished model from a couple years ago. It took forever just to boot up. It was really frustrating.

Back to what is OLED technology

OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode. That’s all well and good, but what you really need to know is how it performs. I’m sure you’ve seen LED screens since they are everywhere now.

The first flat panel TVs were made using plasma displays. However, those were super heavy and a bit limited in performance. Along came LED displays and the TVs got a lot lighter and thinner.

Now OLED has appeared and they are even better. Why? The most interesting thing about OLED technology is that they have more contrast. This is because the LEDs don’t try to create black anymore. Now they just turn off. This is the darkest black you can get. Therefore, if your screen is black, it looks like it’s off.

For example, the LG E7 65 inch TV that I have has to have a screen saver so that you know it’s still on. It shows these firework-looking explosions of color. My little boy love to watch them, haha.

In any case, that’s what OLED is for.

Is LG OLED special?

Yes! In fact LG is special. Although the technology was first invented by Eastman Kodak way back in 1987, it’s been used variable over those 30 years and finally made it’s way to consumer electronics.

There are several companies that manufacture OLED displays, but in fact LG makes most of them. They manufacture screens for Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba, Phillips, and Loewe. So if you go with one of those brands, you are getting an LG display. And you’ll find a lot of Sony and Panasonic TVs especially on some top lists.

You should also note that LG has a lineup of cheap to expensive TVs in several different sizes. Remember that the entire lineup uses the same display, so you’ll only be considering the other features of the TV set. A lot of people choose to by the less expensive B and C series TVs because of that fact.

What is YouTube TV? Since we are cutting the cord, we decided to try the much cheaper YouTube TV. When you compare the streaming TV services like DirectTV Now and Youtube TV, you really have to make a personal decision.

YouTube TV in general has more sports channels than the other guys, at least in the cheaper versions. For each one of them, you can pay more and get more channels.

You can play YouTube TV anywhere these days. It’s great to play on your phone when you are traveling about town. But you can also play it on the Roku or the Apple TV. It’s pretty widely available. All you need is an internet connection. It’s great for smart tvs, like this one.

As with any TV streaming, you’ll probably want some decent speed to your internet connection. Companies like Spectrum all offer 300 mb download speeds mostly anywhere. In some areas, you can get 1gb speeds, which are awesome.

The video quality is good. It’s full HD, although it will degrade if your internet speed dips too low. That can be a little annoying, but it’s not really the fault of YouTube and will happen with any streaming TV service.

The layout of the program guide works pretty well and is actually customizable. You can bring your favorite channels to the top of the list. The one thing is that I have had difficulty finding the program summary/info. So it’s hard to know if you want to watch something until you click on it.

Does YouTube TV ever go down?

This is very important, because we all take for granted that our cable tv will work. But how about these streaming TV services? Will they work during the Superbowl? Or when you were interviewed by that guy on the news? You know you don’t want any outages at those important TV watching times.

I actually did experience an outage for YouTube TV a week or two ago. I was really surprised when it hit. I figured there was a problem with my internet or something. However, my internet was fine. So I used my phone to lookup the outage and sure enough it was ongoing. It didn’t last very long, but it still put some doubt in my head.

Overall, however, I think these services have a pretty good record of uptime. They seem to be pretty reliable.

A Personal Choice

In the end, which streaming TV service you choose really depends on what you like to watch. YouTube TV has clearly positioned itself as the leader in streaming sports. ESPN for example is available at a low subscription price. But if you can’t sacrifice HGTV, then you can always look at a more extensive plan.

If you are interested in the TV streaming services, make sure you check out a decent smart TV to go with it. They are really incredible these days.

The Apple Giant

Apple is a giant in technology. They weren’t always this big. They’ve had their ups and downs. But now they are always the elephant in the room. When they released the Apple TV, it came with much fanfare, but has always played third fiddle behind the iPhone and Mac computers. So what’s in the most recent releases? Is Apple TV worth it?

See reviews and prices on Amazon

It has a lot to offer

The Apple TV was one of the early streaming media players to hit the mainstream. The interface is similar to the iPhone when you look at the screen. If you are an Apple person, then you’ll see what I’m talking about.

It has the same style of icons laid out in a grid so you can find the one you’re looking for. They’ve got the biggies like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu, in addition to all the premium cable channels like HBO Go and Showtime.

You can also order movies and TV shows to rent straight from Apple. They make this pretty easy, of course. You get charged through your Apple ID account, so it’s seemless. Then you get an email receipt for your purchase.

You can also access your other computers on the network and load your photos and videos on the Apple TV. Interestingly, though, there is only a 32 and 64 gb version. This is less than the iPhone! But then again, the Apple TV is mostly just used for streaming, so maybe you don’t need that much.

Watch Streaming TV Services

This is really important for us because we are cutting the cord. So we won’t have a cable box to worry about. So how can you watch TV shows on the Apple TV?

The Apple TV has apps for YouTube TV, DirectTV Now, and Sling TV. So if you weren’t getting good enough reception or enough channels through your OTA antenna, then you could sign up for one of these streaming TV services.

However, remember this: if you are buying a new TV, then you don’t need an Apple TV. The new smart TVs have more than enough features to do most things that this Apple TV can do, with a few exceptions like renting movies directly from Apple.

If you’re using an older TV, then this Apple TV or Roku may be the ways to go!

When you are looking for local broadcast and network channels, you can use an antenna that is specially designed for digital signals transmitted through the air. If you have one of these, you can get free HD channels to watch all day long! Let's take a look at and see if we can find the best OTA tv antennas for your money.

You might be surprised to hear this: If you live in populated regions of the US, the majority of the primary digital TV channels are available entirely free, without a cable subscription. All you need is an antenna that can catch a digital signal and you’re all set!

Basically, you are going to have decide on your priorities. Do you want good? Or do you want cheap? Well, let's take a look at both.

The Wineguard 5500a HDTV antenna is a wonderful selection for getting digital television channels within the air. It has a 50-60-mile variety and people even report around 70! It is possible to get ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and Fox (and perhaps more) in HD plus it supports a large and beautiful 1080p quality video.

This antenna is not the cheapest, but it's probably the best. Winegard has been in making these for a long time. The quality image from this antenna is really awesome for the affordable price that you purchase this for.

It’s rated for a range of 60 Miles, but could reach even farther. This is in part because of an included amplifier on it that is quite strong. You also can power it with the usb plug in your smartTV. If you do a short google search, you can even look up how far away the local channel towers are to help you figure out if it’s within the 60 mile range.

Finally, it’s a flat type of antenna so you can hang it anywhere and even paint it to match your walls.

What about cheaper OTA antennas?

However, maybe you want a cheaper option? This might be ok if you are in the middle of a big city. In the bigger cities, there may be a lot of digital signals flying around just over our heads. You may find that you can catch a lot of channels very easily.

In this case, you may want to try out a cheaper antenna to see if it will suit your needs. If it does, then you're all set. Take a look at the antenna I've listed below. If you check out the reviews online, you'll see that this is probably the most popular. It's generic, cheap, and has 4/5 stars. Sounds tough to beat!

Let us look at the way a indoor electronic antenna works. There is an assortment of styles you can find, but the majority of them are in fact flat and also have a coax cable attached. This is for those who want to connect to a dvr recorder or straight in your TV for over
the air hd stations. Then you will be able to get free channels in your region.

You will discover that the electronic antennas will be flat for storage, then can hang on the wall when in use. You can either hang directly on the TV or they will stick to a
window, too.

Common Ranges

They most commonly come with a 25 mile roughly 50 miles variant. The sole distinction is that it might cost a bit more to get a longer range. However, this may be crucial for a few of you if you're a long ways away from a TV tower.

It'll come down to your personal preference as where you decide to place the antenna. The most significant aspect to bear in mind is that you just need the indoor TV antenna to possess the most direct route pointing toward the regional towers which are sending the HD channels through the air.

For some of you, you may recall the old times where we employed those the very lengthy bunny ear antennas. You'd literally point them in various directions to find a better reception. Then you'd also go to the point of placing tin foil onto it if needed. Actually, the exact principle applies here, too. However, it's quite a bit more forgiving from the technology hd antennas currently catch the channel signal.

Simply do your best to put it into place the antenna where it has the very best opportunity to find reception. It's actually simple to experiment with this by shifting it about from place to place.

Here are just two tidbits to use which will help you discover the broadcast systems close to you and the local television stations you'll be able to grab. Checkout antennapoint.com along with antennaweb.org. These websites will also tell you the distance of the tower from where you are and the level to point your antenna in.

This will really help you to get your bearings in regards to what you may want to purchase as soon as you see just how far you're in your towers.

What if your antenna doesn't get the job done?

Well, of course there'll be a few of you in which the indoor version doesn't work. In that case you may have to move outdoors. It just depends where you live.

In that situation, there are a bunch of options for outdoor antennas. A popular one is the ClearStream 2V exterior version. You could put it on a tripod. That could make all the difference and you may be all set.

Best 5 Indoor HD TV

5. AmazonBasics Ultra Thin Indoor TV Antenna

To start is Amazon's own Standard product line of electronic antennas. They possess exactly the identical flat layout as other versions discussed within this report. It's paint-able like another popular versions.

AmazonBasics Characteristics

It's multi-directional like another high rated antennas we examined. That is good.

It includes coax cable. 25 mile (6 ft ), 35 mile (10 ft ) 50 mile (16 ft )

Merchandise dimensions are 11.5 x 0.6 x 3.5 inches

It's a white and black side that you are able to paint also.

Comes with push hooks to hang on it along with velcro strips.

The 50 feet version does include an amplifier. It's usb established and additionally plugins into a wall socket. Thus, you can plug it into your smartTV in case you've got one. It is going to only remain on when the TV is still on.

Client Feedback

There is also a 35 mile range version. You'll find exactly the identical comments concerning other 35 mile versions. It works for some and not others. It comes down to a line of site whenever you're employing those more compact variations. Thus, be certain to understand the distance from your home to your towers.

That being said, there are a bunch of people who are very pleased by it. Thus, I wouldn't say that I wouldn't suggest this model at all according to what I noticed. Plus, it's priced lower than the winegard flatwave in case this really does matter for you.

An opinion that is worth mentioning is that a gal had difficulties while using the toaster. It really twisted the image. Whenever you're really near the towers I guess this can really happen. This is the location where you need to test it using the amp and have to find out where the image is best. This may happen with almost any indoor climbing antenna and isn't unique to this amazon basic. But anyway, it's kind of a funny story.

4. Mohu Leaf 50 Antenna

The Mohu Leaf is just another 50 mile, paper-slim indoor antenna. In addition to being thin, it has reversible white and black sides. Why is this unique is you may paint it. It is a great feature since in the event that you hang it on your walls you are able to paint it the identical color to help hide it.

Features

It's a 50 mile array

It's the horizontal paper thin version with reversible sides which you may paint to match walls.

There's a 16 foot detachable bolt cable included.

It's Multi-directional so you don't need to be concerned about pointing out it in 1 direction.

it is made in the united states and includes a 1 year guarantee.

Comes with 4 sticky pads to hang on it. There's also just a tiny gap to hang it using a nail from the wall.

Client Reviews

I included this since it is one that you are going to wind up coming across if you do your own searching. You might discover the remarks relating to this are varied. When you browse through the comments and you see it did not do the job, it is spam. Continue reading through them since you may observe folks acknowledge it was not the fault of this item. These cases are often due to the home being obstructed by trees etc.

Additionally, it seems like those that it did function for were in 25 miles in the TV channel towers. So, that said, I would say if you're near your towers that is well worth a shot. This is especially true if you would like something to paint so that it fits your wall color if you're likely to hang it. In case your towers are farther than 25 miles, I would advise that the wineguard horizontal wave we have discussed before or even the clearstream just below.

3. ClearStream Eclipse

The Eclipse was created by antenna company who is a really reputable manufacture from the market you can trust. I know a guy who has the ClearStream 2v 60 mile variation on his home and he loves it.

The ClearStream Eclispe comes with a 25 mile range and with 50 mile version. Both of these are white so they will match white decor when hung. The 50 mile version will include an amp, but the 25 mile does not.

Features

It's mult-directional that can get the OTA signals from all possible directions.

You might even paint this to suit your wall colour whenever hanging it.

12 x 2.8 x 9.8 inches (25 mile variant ), 10″ x 9″ x 5″ (50 mile variant )

Complete HD 1080 competent with UHD 4k Able

Life time guarantee

25 version has a 12 ft cable along with the 50 mile variant comprises a 15 feet

For your amplified antenna it's a benefit of 24 dbi maximum. The sound is significantly less than 2db.

To hang this antenna, then you just use the certain grip technology that's built into this item. It'll stick to walls, windows or a horizontal surface. You do not need to nail this into the wall or fret about adhesives to hang on it. That's pretty awesome I think.

Client Feedback

One client living in NY tried numerous brands seeking to pick up these stations. He had been using the RCA Basic, August DTA240/250/215, and with also the Mohu Leaf Metro with hardly any success. When he saw a review by wirecutter.com about this antenna, he was super skeptical regarding the Clearstream Esclipse. With this particular model he ended up getting 65 stations! He did acknowledge he needed to move the antenna to a lot before he found a sweet place, though. In addition, he tried it using the amplifier off and on to determine how it functioned in a variety of locations. After he discovered the perfect place, he's one happy client.

You will find 1000's a fantastic reviews. This is unquestionably a version I would advise considering.

2. 1byone Super Thin

As it stands that the 1byone 25 mile version is a best vendor on amazon. You will find more than 7,000 reviews by customers. 1byone is one solid black color. Also, it must be among the least expensive versions we've reviewed yet from the 25 mile range.

Features

It comes with a 10 foot cable

There's a 25, 30 and 50 mile variant it's possible to buy.

The surface will be paint-able

Very simple installation. Rg6 cable links to a dvr or Television Ant in. Scan for stations and you're rocking watching TV.

Contains 2 sided tape

1Byone User Reviews

There's nothing but favorable remarks here. Everybody was happy with that. They noticed that the tape is quite robust and also had no worries about it slipping down if hanging it. It was super simple to set up and hook up.

I understand the 25 mile variant will be really a best seller, but keep in mind that it does not arrive with the amp.

In case you've got a very long cable run from the antenna on the TV you'd use an amp which you may buy separately. For the price tag, a few people ended up purchasing one for your living room along with a second antenna their bedroom.

I would like to especially mention the very popular 1Byone 50 mile range antenna, too. This one is made to be hung onto the window due to it is clear layout and elegance strips. It's a little of a designer artwork look for an antenna, too. You may especially want to consider this one if you need to put it in a window.

1. Winegard FlatWave Amped FL5500A

This winegard version is ultra-thin and reaches a 50 mile long range. Some say that it reached farther however. What's exceptional about this version is it is reversible with a single website being black and the other hand being whitened . This is of interest for a few of those who are worried about how it may appear hanging on the walls or from the open. In case it goes up on the walls you will likely try it with the the white side up to
blend with your white wall.

Features

Includes an embedded amplifier using clear circuit technologies.

It will include a 18.5 oot coax cable so that you don't need to purchase that separate.

That power source is USB driven. It plugs from the wall such as ordinary but brings less electricity and gives you choices to plug it in to a system which has a usb link to control it besides a wall socket.

It's a 50 mile reception array using a HD double ring VHF/UHF

Even the preamplifier inserted into It's just 1db nose in which others are in 3db+

It's likewise multi-directional which lets you get signals from all possible directions.

It is 12″x 0.6 x 13 inches that is wider compared to the amazon basics version antenna to capture more channels.

User Reviews

With over 3,000 opinions on amazon that is decidedly among the top ones on the market to think about purchasing.

One woman had attempted 3 indoor variations. She lived in Minnesota with no chance of catching much. She might never get exactly the nbc affiliate channel which was 35 miles off on VHF. She eventually broke down and purchased the winegard flatwave. Instead of just picking up the nbc channel, she got many different channels to continue to keep her fantasy of cutting the cord!

Another man was amazed that he managed to receive a channel 52.3 miles off. He had it hung 8 feet high in his workplace. He was impressed that the station was view-able even at during bad weather.

A Few clients made remarks this antenna was a better than the Mohu Leaf antenna by a little margin.

A couple of people made remarks that this one is larger than others. Well, that's precisely exactly the reason why it will get a much better range. You'll also notice that a few folks today say it did not do the job nicely. Take this with a grain of salt. If you're surround by a great deal of trees down into a valley you won't have great luck using all the indoor edition.

Conclusion

Hopefully, now you've got sufficient knowledge on what to search for when purchasing your indoor hdtv antenna. What exactly are the important features they have? What's the best way to hook up them up? What distance range should you look to purchase?

Good luck!

When trying to design your perfect entertainment system, and avoiding all those fees, you’ll probably need a USB drive. Check out this other post to see what else you need. There are loads of portable hard drives on the market, but the Western Digital Passport Portable Hard Drive stands out. I’ve had several of their drives and they’ve improved a lot over the years. I’ll tell you why.

This is an in-depth review of the 2TB WD elements portable USB 3.0 hard drive’s features, where to find it, and what other customers are saying about it.

Feature List – pretty standard if you ask me

Auto backup with included WD Backup software

Password protection with hardware encryption

Easy and ready to use out of the box

Bold, vibrant design in wide range of beautiful colors

Trusted drive built with WD reliability

Up to 4TB capacity, although I just looked at the 2TB because of cost

USB 3.0; USB 2.0 compatible

For cord cutters setting up their subscription free tv options at home, this is an extremely popular external hard drive has 1000’s of reviews on Amazon backing it up. This would be one of the extra accessories you would want to buy for the tablo dvr or the channel master dvr + to have extra capacity to store your recorded shows.

What I like about the WD Passport hard drives is that they just work. I can rely on them day in and day out. There are a lot of small hard drives out there and I’ve had good success with the WD line.

One thing I would mention is that you may want to consider a solid state drive (SSD). The SSDs are faster and silent. However, they are more expensive, almost twice the price.

Here is some info from WD:

Western Digital Elements External HDCustomer Reviews

Most customers on Amazon echo that it works smoothly with Xbox one, praised its super-fast speed, its light weight, sleek design and ease of usage. All you need is the Micro USB cable to plug it into the host and it will be recognized immediately. The exterior is also hard enough to make sure you do not lose your data even when you drop the drive.

Mac users noted, you have to reformat it from NTFS TO HFS+ to make it compatible with Mac.

Someone else mentioned it does come with backup that you can use to schedule backups on your pc, but it is only available on trial basis for thirty days. There is no inbuilt security software, so it would not be advisable to store sensitive data on it.

However, you can schedule backups through Windows or another software and just set the destination to the external hard drive.

Accessories

A hard casing to protect the hard drive is available on Amazon. Click here to see one of the more popular ones. I haven’t needed these, but if you are hard on your drive then it may be useful.

Price

For the low cost, high capacity, simple, sleek design and its ease of use, this hard drive is definitely worth buying. In addition to use on PCs, it is an excellent backup option for gamers, perfectly compatible with Xbox one and Nintendo. For Nintendo, it needs higher power, and you can get an adapter cable to connect both USB ports present at the front part of the device so it can get enough power FYI.

Amazon has the best deals on the 2TB WD passport portable hard drive. You can get it for as low as 70 dollars. It comes with a one year warranty, and fast and free shipping is also a guarantee. You will enjoy great speed for less money, a lot of space, and get the best value for it. At the end of the day, this product stays true to the WD slogan-Dream big. Carry Small.

In summary

I wholeheartedly recommend this Western Digital Passport USB drive. It works. And it works for a long time. You can rely on it to hold all your shows so you can enjoy them over and over again.

I was so excited to write this Roku Ultra Streaming Media Player review. It’s is the best selling Roku on Amazon and it’s easy to see why. It’s fricken fast and supports 4k for insane video quality. The Roku cable alternative is the front runner when cutting the cord.

If you’re wondering about the Roku 4 and the Roku Ultra, just look at the release dates. The Roku 4 is two years older than the Ultra. Need I say more?

The Roku Ultra includes a newly added remote control and voice hunt. There is also a stage anywhere Wi-Fi along with a headphone jack for
those who want to listen privately. The Roku is currently one of the best streamers available on the market that provides subscription free screening for cable cutters.

Roku Ultra has retained the A/B keys for gaming options, although the choice of games does not match Amazon Fire TV and Android TV.

The Roku also responds to IR commands, which means you can use it with almost any universal remote control. Any of the Logitech Harmony series will work well. This one is by far the most popular.

Feeds could be improved though. The list of new releases is tiny. Roku should look at including” Coming Soon” into its primary search results. Now with a Roku Ultra, you can search by speaking to the remote which
can suit some people and saves fumbling from the semi dark for switches.

Great Picture

The Roku is known for keeping up with technology and that gives it a great picture. 4K or ultra-high definition programming is getting more and more popular. You can even get it through Netflix these days.

If you get a Roku, you won’t be left behind. The processor is fast and the picture is really nice. This all helps to prevent a ton of buffering or downgraded picture quality like you might get with older models.

Also, they’ve done a decent job of making the unit presentable. The player is small and very discreet. You can really hide it anywhere.

It even has games?!

So, it will have games which you can play but it isn’t near as broad as amazon fire or nexus. So, keep this in mind when buying this. If gaming is a big deal to you then you will need to examine the amazon fire stick instead.

It also includes an ethernet network port to use if you’re near your
router, USB port to plugin in external hard disk drives, and a microSD card port if you happen to have movies or photographs to play.

The new addition to Roku’s software is Roku Feed. If you would like to watch a display that isn’t yet available to stream, then you can trace along by adding it into your feed. Then it is possible to check for
upgrades for as soon as the show can be streamed.

In addition to this it is possible to use their new price tracking option which will allow you to get informed when a picture you have marked to purchase drops in cost.

By the way, if you want to find this cheaper, make sure to check out the refurbished models. You can find these on Amazon as well of course. I’ve tested many refurbished electronics from Amazon and I have never been disappointed.

If you are unsure about what else you need to cut the cord, take a look at this page for a walk through of everything you will need.

Summary

Well, that’s it for the Roku Ultra Streaming Media Player review. Roku has been making streaming media players for a long time now. They are reliable and they perform really well. They’ve kept up with current technology, too. You can see that’s it’s not just a roku cable alternative, but also a good option for other types of entertainment as well.

I would definitely recommend a Roku if you are looking to cut the cord. It will give you the freedom to stop your cable subscription, and you’ll still get high quality programming and picture. It’s also much cheaper than an Apple TV, so that is probably why it has become so popular for cord cutters everywhere.

You can check out all the reviews on Amazon here. You can also see a comparison of all the Roku devices.
